Obituary

John E. (J Bird) Smith-age 67 of Luttrell passed away Saturday morning, March 2, 2019 at his home. He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, J. P. and Dorothy (Tharp) Smith; brother, Don Smith; grandparents, Ernest and Pearl Tharp, Charlie and Ella Smith.

Survivors: wife, Donna(Simmons) Smith, Luttrell; daughter, SherrI Smith (Larry) of Andersonville; step-sons, John Boy Turner (Crystal) of Jefferson City; Charlie Turner and Kevin Turner; special granddaughter, Trinity Turner; step-grandchildren, John, Emma, MaKayla, Braden and Brandon Turner; sisters and husbands, Louella and Frankie Waskom, Luttrell; Kay and Jack Wyrick, Luttrell; Shirley and Cliff Nelson, Knoxville; Clara Tolliver and the late Dewayne Tolliver, Maynardville; Judy Riell, Luttrell; brothers and wives, Mack and Lodene Smith, Luttrell; E. J. and Crystal Smith, Maynardville; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Gary Atkins; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Lisa Simmons, all of Luttrell, nieces and nephews, Shane Waskom, Tonya Wolfenbarger, Erika Hickman, Jayden Smith, Jeff Tolliver, Dewaynetta Munsey, Donnie Smith, Jerrie Mathis, Jackie Hill, Ricky Nelson, Junior Nelson, Barbara Nelson and several great-nieces and nephews. Aunt, Sue Tinklenberg, Sharpsville, Indiana; uncle, Bob Smith and wife, Betty, Knoxville. Special friends, the Grable Family of Knoxville and the Dyer Family of Powder Springs. Several cousins and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends 5-8 P.M. Monday, March 4, 2019 with funeral service to follow at 8 P.M., Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Jerry Tharp, Rev. Randy Beeler officiating with music by Shawn Wynn and the Union Church Singers. Interment 2 P.M. Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Sharp Cemetery, Highway 370, Luttrell. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 1 P.M. to go in the funeral procession. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers: nephews, step-sons and friends: Shane Waskom, Kevin, John Boy and Charlie Turner, Jayden Smith, Jeff Tolliver, Donnie Smith, Ricky Nelson, Junior Nelson, Dwight Dyer, Darrell Dyer, Gary Grable, Jimmy Grable, Kenny Grable, Faron Tolliver. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.

I am so to sorry to hear about J bird. We had no idea that he had passed. I am out of town, and not able to attend the services tonight.
